Brief Task Description
An experienced Field Engineer coordinates and schedules work and functionally tests a variety of mechanical systems and associated control devices. The technician is expected to meet performance standards set by management and comply with all Company policies and procedures. This position reports directly to Field Engineering Manager. The experienced Field Engineer performs the following:
- Plan, schedule, coordinate and perform test and balance work
- Prepare preliminary and final field balancing logs
- Prepare written reports regarding system installation, function and design deficiencies
- Perform the test and air balance work on projects
- Perform mathematical operations quickly and accurately
- Act as a lead, mentor and trainer for additional field engineering personnel on projects
- Attend job-site meetings and represent MacDonald-Miller's interests
- Write balancing agendas and Final TAB reports
- Actively participate in the MacDonald-Miller sponsored Education and Training Program
- Understand, accept and support MacDonald-Miller’s Operating Guidelines, Operational Beliefs and Customer Commitment
- Perform additional tasks as assigned

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:
- Ability to frequently lift or carry 20 to 50 pounds
- Ability to see and hear well (either naturally or with correction) and speak clearly
- Coordinate the movement of your eyes, hands and/or fingers
- Continuous computer screen use
- Physical requirements included: standing, bending, squatting, sitting, kneeling, lying down, crawling, climbing and driving
- Typical working conditions include: working on ladders, on rooftops, in crawl spaces, in unheated areas and in all weather conditions
- Work an eight hour shift and capable of working ten to twelve hour days when job/business needs demand
Qualification Requirements
- Previous experience or knowledge of:
- Mechanical systems
- Fans and fan laws
- Pumps and pumps laws
- Automatic temperature control systems
- Sound and vibration measurement
- National Environmental Balancing Bureau certification or B.S.M.E. is desirable.
- Possess a strong mathematical aptitude
- Ability to effectively interact with customers, technicians, sales and office staff
- Good written and verbal and listening communications skills
- Possess strong computer aptitude including hardware and software
- Have an excellent attendance record at prior employment
- Self-motivation
- Takes pride in ones work and excepts a level of responsibility for his/her professionalism and accuracy
- Project a positive image of the company and herself/himself to customers
- Competent in WISHA/OSHA job site safety requirement
- Actively participate in the MacDonald-Miller sponsored Education and Training Program
- A valid license and clean driving record are required
- A candidate is required to pass a pre-hire drug screening and physical examination (after job offer)
- History of good employment attendance and punctuality
