Red is the New Green
MacDonald-Miller has a major influence over the power and water usage of the buildings we build and maintain. We are responsible to make every utility dollar count and to be stewards of our environment.
Green Trends or Green Solutions?
The purpose of the MacDonald-Miller Green Team is to evaluate all the options and discern which approach brings the best value to our customers. Our goals include:
- Educating our staff with company-wide LEED training sessions and basic education on green technologies
- Educating our customers - GCs and building owners - on LEED
- Improving MacDonald-Miller's operational footprint
- Developing new services and products that benefit our customers
- Investigating new technology and system approaches
- Making green resources available to everyone at MacMiller
Wholehearted Commitment
Our Green Committee meets bi-weekly and the full team (almost 150 employees) quarterly. Our Green Engineering Forum gathers bi-weekly to discuss systems approaches and LEED updates. We have 15 LEED Accredited Professionals on staff, as well as an energy rebate specialist, certified energy managers (CEMs) and a building performance group that optimizes the energy usage of existing buildings.
We Care
Our challenge is to develop systems that reduce power, water, and material usage for the lowest cost, while maintaining comfort.
