Citrix Secure Portal Instructions
1. Click on this link to open the MacDonald-Miller Citrix Secure Gateway web site. Depending on your browser's configuration, a dialog box similar to the one pictured may pop up. If it does, click "OK".
2. You will then be taken to the Citrix login page, which contains the login area.
3. Please enter your user name and password that you use to log on in the office and click "LOG IN". You will then see the login turn into the access portal. DO NOT CLICK ON THE "DESKTOP" ICON YET!
4. WARNING: Do not continue until you see the dialog box to install "Citrix ICA 32-bit Windows Client". This may take 30 seconds to several minutes to show up. When it does, click YES to allow the client to install.
5. Then click YES to agree to the license agreement.
6. You should now be able to click on the DESKTOP icon to log in to Citrix.
Additional Citrix Client Configuration:
7. After logging onto the Citrix portal, click on the "Settings" icon (the one that the arrow points to in the picture).
8. A window will pop up with the settings:
This is the settings page for your Citrix desktop environment. Ignore the top area titled "Presentation Preferences", since it just changes the way that the portal is displayed. Under "Connection Preferences", you have 3 choices under Window Size. These settings change the size of the Citrix window after you click on the Desktop icon.
Standard: This has many settings, most of them in terms that relate to your desktop resolution (i.e. - 640 x 480, 800 x 600). The smaller the resolution you choose, the less space the Citrix Desktop screen will take up.
Custom Size: This will allow you to use a custom resolution. If you do not feel comfortable with changing your computer's resolution, do not use this setting.
Percent of Screen: This allows you to specify the percentage of the screen that you want the Citrix window to use.
After you are done making changes, click SUBMIT to save them or RESET to cancel any changes.
Tip: If you do not choose SEAMLESS or FULL SCREEN, it will run in a window instead of taking up your entire screen. SEAMLESS and FULL SCREEN will also hide your entire computer background, making you feel as if the Citrix Desktop is your computer.
Troubleshooting
If you are having problems logging on to Citrix, it could be that the version of Microsoft Internet Explorer is out of date. The Citrix web client requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (or higher) with 128 bit encryption. If you are unsure of the version of Internet Explorer that you have, you can click on the "HELP" pull down menu in Internet Explorer and choose "About Internet Explorer". In the case that you do not have Internet Explorer 5.0 (or higher) with 128 bit encryption, you can download Internet Explorer 6.0 from Microsoft at this link or you can get it from the Microsoft Windows Update site here.
Note: Internet Explorer 6.0 is available for Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP Home and XP Professional. Microsoft no longer supports Windows 95. If you do not know what version of Windows you are using, you can find out by clicking on START, then RUN. In the dialog box, type WINVER and click OK.
